Yes it can be used as either vented or ventless. Nothing additional needed, just remove some small metal panels on top with screwdriver. Had to call the store because instructions didn't say anything about how to remove to make ventless. Electrician insisted we bought wrong one & couldn't use. It's a new design & he didn't realize you just remove the little plate covers to convert to ventless.
