I don't think so. when one cartridge is out, the printer stops. However, since you only want to do b/w, it's worth checking with Brother for alternatives. good luck!!!

This will depend on the model of the printer.

No it won’t, all cartridges have to have some ink in them. Tried it myself and it was a no go.

If you just chew your food and don't swallow, will you grow taller? Most likely but you won't look your best. Same with the ink... Printing in black on a white background won't appear to look fabulous as it takes a smidgen of coloring to make the imprint stand up tall! Best of luck to you.
