• You can use either the flatbed scanner or the ADF to scan a document and make a copy. The ADF can do two-sided scanning in a single pass and you can choose to have the copy printed out as two sheets or double sided. It doesn't use ink cartridge, it uses toner cartridges. The part numbers can be found on a sticker on the front of the printer. Click on the pic I attached to this reply.

• The Brother MFCL3770CDW machine is able to make copies using the scanner glass. This model works with the Brother TN223 Standard Yield toner and /or Brother TN227 High Yield toner.
