“auto power? I'm looking very seriously at purchasing a Brother Laser printer (B&W) this time, and I'm wondering: do any of these fine printers have an auto-power down after use / power up when needed feature so that it isn't continually running and running and running... while waiting for the next print batch -- saving wear and tear on the hardware, not to mention save on the electric....? If so - which printers do? OR, would I just have to manually power down when done / power up when needed next time? I'm really looking forward to your reply Thanks!”

It seems to me that the printer does go into a sleep mode between printing jobs

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.This computer does "sleep" when not in use. The main screen does light up on it's own for a few seconds, the only shows a very small home button. When using it by hand, say to make a copy, pressing the home button starts it up. This printer does not have multiple trays for different sized paper. You have to change it manually. But it's very good for basic black printing.

Please try again later.are you serious? did you unplug your stove when you left home to go to work today, also? your printer stays on, like your computer, all the time. then you use it as needed. it does not keep "running and running and running..." as you say. it is not a water faucet. it's a printer.
