I used the WIFI hotspot on my smartphone for my motorhome and it worked fine for leaving it on for about 8 hours. I was actually surprised because I was waiting for it to timeout but it stayed operative. I don't know about your Magicjack though. I don't think the Canary cares who the internet provider is as long as there is an internet connection.

You need to look at all of the disadvantages of Canary and shop for the superior product, Netgear Arlo. They are highly reviewed, don't rip you off by requiring monthly revenue, and give you quality experience that doesn't require heavy-duty know-how or extreme internet packages. Hope this helps!
