I would say definitely yes! I bought this as a birthday gift 3 weeks ago for my 15 year old. She took the camera on vacation and LOVES it! It gave her to ability to experiment with the photographs in a way that she can't do with a cell phone or a point and shoot camera, however it's wasn't overwhelming for her to learn.
