Yes, it has settings for sporting events. I haven't had the opportunity to use my camera for this activity yet but, I can tell by the way they handles it will function well.

I bought this camera to take pictures at soccer games. If I'm on the sidelines, it's great. But if I'm in the bleachers, not so much. Can't seem to zoom in close enough. Thinking about returning it for something different.

My wife and I use this camera for our sons football games and for our daughters soccer games as well. I would definitely recommend this camera for football games, rather you're taking action pics or portrait the quality is good. sofar we are very content and the video quality is nice too.
