- Answer You can try cleaning the battery contacts. Good luck. I have the same problem after 5 days, the camera is dead. Called Canon and after about 1 minute I was told it was a "circuit board issue". Obviously a known issue. I feel like I threw my money in the garbage!

- Answer No clue but since this is a BEGINNERS level camera, I suggest a more advanced canon. If price is an issue, T5i or T6i. If you can afford more, T7 or t7i. The i versions are more advanced.
