Will this printer work with an old laptop, window 7? null

I HAVE A WINDOWS 8 Configured Dell laptop and I could not get the printer to print from my computer, even though I was connected via Wi-Fi to the same network. HOWEVER, I did not try the cable method because Canon did not supply a proper cable to interface, so there's that.
