I got one for my girl and the ink it came with only printed 5 pics and that was it saying it was empty any answer? ?? null

When you buy it, they don’t give you a lot of pictures.

Sometimes an ink cartridge will tell you that it is low allowing you time go buy a replacement before it runs out. Keep printing until it says cartridge is empty. Message is not clear and we have lost pictures. Puting the cartridge back in gives a few blank and partly bad pictures before clearing up.

Yup that's all you get. You must buy the refill kits. Cheaper and easier to go to Walmart and print them off.

Yes, ours was the same. 5 pics and it was done. The refills do print more pics. Last count was 15 pics. I am not sure if they have printed more yet or not.
