“I have a laserjet printer and I am looking for a cheap wireless scanner. Does the scanner function still work WITHOUT ink cartridges installed or does it force you to have ink installed before you can scan?”

I was able to use Preview on my Mac to get it to scan without it, but it does come with 1 black and 1 color cartridge in the box
