It will scan to PDF. I had forgotten re ij utility app which one can use to set things up ahead of time. I used it a lot on my pixma mg5500 printer that died a year ago and just checked and the utility works with this printer as well. the utility is set up on computer and would work better than using scan icon on printer screen which when touch gives options to save to computer attach to email or save to cloud

Don't believe it converts to PDF but there are many options after scan to where to send document if desired. have not had time to read through the manual re scanning. BIG ISSUE though: Some anti-virus software interferes with the printer being recognized by the computer. I have webroot from geeksquad and may possibly have to uninstall the antivirus to get the computer to recognize the printer from wi-fi. The printer works fine with computer if usb connected. Wi-fi is easily detected by printer but only works from cell phone app because of webroot. Talked with Canon and said they have gotten memos from webroot re difficulties with wifi set up with this printer. Do not know if problem exists with other anti-virus software. It does print extremely good qualilty photos using various canon papers and professional photo printing papers! I'm a photographer so I can say that with ease. Have debated returning this printer I've had for about 6 weeks for this antiivirus issue and have asked canon why they don't do a work around on their devices......
