Optical Zoom uses lenses to bring objects closer without losing clarity. The more you zoom in(x25 max) the longer the lens on the camera extends. You can zoom in even further than x25 but you will be using digital zoom which uses software similar to a smartphone. The picture becomes blurrier when using digital.
