No you do not. And the factory key fob only works on select models. There are some vehicle, off the top of my head I know the 2008 Chevy equinox, does not support the factory key fob to start the vehicle, but will work just fine while the vehicle is shut off. I think it’s something to do with if it’s a flip key, or buttons on the key you use in the ignition, it will not work.
