I have a 2016 Odyssey and it works great. 

I think you can use the factory remote but the one for the starter is so small, it really doesn’t bother me at all.

I had this installed on my 2015 Honda CRV EX about a month ago. It took about 1 1/2 hours for the Geek Squad to do the install. and , yes, it does work with with the original remote by pressing the lock button 3 times. Just so you know, when you unlock the doors or press the brake pedal, the engine does shut down.
