Don't know about 1000ft (more than 3 football fields) the longest I've done is about 1/2 a city block. From the 3rd floor where I work, to the street that borders the entrance to our parking lot... about 1/2 a block, It works fine. It's just a small transmitter so 1000ft would probably depend on ideal conditions, line of sight, no buildings between, etc.
