Good morning, the subscription is optional but I would recommend it. Having a subscription gives you piece of mind.

Yes a subscription is required in order to keep the Mobile access to the remote start.

Yes it does require a subscription. You get the first 30 days free and after that they have different tiers to choose from. For me I chose the lowest which is $5.99 a month. I didn’t feel I need the trip tracker and gps. I like the unit and the $5.99 works great for me. Hope this helps.
