Will this work on a Dell Inspiron 3847? null

I am not sure if it will fit in your dell. The PSU has a container that looks pretty small, and your 24-pin connector could be a special set for dell power supplies. I'd say buy it and try it inside the system if not Best Buy offers a 14-day return policy and you can return online items to the stores.

It's harder to say with the proprietary designs used by larger computer manufacturers. If the outside dimensions of the power supply will fit your case, if the motherboard of your system uses standard connectors (ie.: 24-pin and 8-pin connectors), and you can adapt to any specialized proprietary connectors that your existing Power supply may have (if any), the, yes - it should work fine.
