• yes, I have broiled a 4" steak and it came out perfect, so I don't see a problem air frying a breaded chicken or catfish.

• It is not an air fryer(there is a more expensive model that is), but you can cook chicken with little oil in it using the convection feature for a very similar outcome. There is also a broil setting.
