• Yes, they're horizontal, and the pan comes off easily for cleaning, which is a breeze. I haven't had to remove the fixed cover, so I don't know how that would be like. Only issue is that the mixing paddle constantly gets stuck inside the loaf bottom and has to be cut out, although I suspect it's because I only use the rapid rise function. I LOVE my bread machine!
