“We set this up and there is no volume. I can connect bluetooth headphones but headphones using a jack do not work nor is there volume coming from the computer itself. What are we missing or did we get a bad unit??”

There is probably 2 Jacks, the one you plugged them into was a mic jack. Either this or your Audio Drivers aren't installed. You can also go and purchase a monitor with Speakers and it has a chance of working.
