It absolutely blocks the light/motion sensor. The prior answer saying it doesn't is incorrect. As a result, the feature that turns on the frame when a light is turned on or when there is motion detected doesn't function. Likewise, the feature that turns the frame off when the room goes dark or there is no motion for a period of time doesn't work. I would not have bought this frame had I known that.

This frame doesn't interfere with the motion sensor at all.
