“I have four definitive speakers with build in subs. I want to just use the speakers and unplug the subs. Will the speakers work with a separate Sub?”

Speaking about the tower speakers w/subs then yes, just use the high level inputs (ie the black and red terminals). Unplug the sub wire (LFE) and power cord you dont need it, since its for the sub amp. This is what I did with my bp8040-st's.

Yes you can. I have 2 Def Tech floor standing speakers and a Def Tech center channel with built in subs to go along with 2 Def Tech powered subs. I can turn off the speaker's subs with the knobs provided in their backs and run my bass just off my dedicated subs.
