It is better for gaming, usually as you can get better refresh rates, input lag, and is cheaper. Your viewing angles with suffer big time with a TN panel. But if you game directly in front it won't matter and settings can be tweaked to still get amazing color and performance. For $399 this monitor is worth it for sure.

Here's a comparison: TN: - usually cheaper - lower response time (IPS is closing the gap) - higher refresh rates (IPS is closing the gap) IPS - better looking panel (colors, angles) IPS technology has been moving forward and coming into the gamer side of the market with high refresh rates and low response time.
