1440p at 144hz is way better to me than 4k at 60hz and less stress on your GPU or CPU. If you have the hardware to support 4k and prefer a higher resolution then go for it. But 1440p is still night and day more clear than 1080p and seems to be the sweet spot for gaming right now.

Ultimately it is up to preference. Personally I would take a higher frame rate over a better quality picture at 1440p because the graphics at that point are more than satisfactory. If you intend to get a monitor for gaming for fast paced games like shooters or racing games go 144hz for sure. The smoothness of the gameplay from 60 to 144hz makes a world of a difference. However if you are intend to use the monitor for anything less demanding I would go for 4K.

Depends on the game, but if its First Person Shooters, then higher frame rate is better than resolution. I would easily choose 1440p @ 144hz over 4k @ 60hz.

PC gaming higher hz is preferred for smoother gameplay currently. If you are only playing on console, 60hz is as high as it goes making a 4K monitor worth it.
