The chassis is plastic; however, it is built very solid, having almost no flex on the keyboard and acceptable flex on the screen. Despite it being plastic, it doesn’t feel very cheap to me, but still doesn’t feel incredibly premium as expected. For portability, I’d say it’s okay. The laptop starts out around 5 pounds and only goes up, and if you want to bring the charger along (which you most likely will need), that will add an extra pound or two. Overall, I feel that at this price point, it is most certainly a good purchase.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It's plastic
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The KB deck area feels like metal. I am almost 100% certain. The construction quality is fine, especially the KB area. Compared to the MSI, the KB deck is much more firmer. The MSI GE series, you can use it as a trampoline. Kidding. The LCD cover is plastic. Logo looks nice and refined. Logo has a green tint to it at certain angle, otherwise blue. The front two corner is sharp, and digs into my arms from time to time. Although, I am a fan of the construction, I am not a fan of the hinge, as I can hear a clicking sound when I close the lid around the center of the lid, near the camera. It's a gaming notebook, so don't expect thin and light. But, its easy enough to fit in a book bag. You need or should bring adapter, Dell drastically reduced the batter capacity on this one compared to their previous gen. I get about 2 to 2 1/2 hrs battery without gaming.
