It does not have S Mode. Yes, you can install Chrome, Gmail, and Google Drive.

yes it starts out with edge but downloaded the Chrome browser and works with no problem she (the wife) logged in with her google credentials and had all of her original tabs that she had on her old laptop did not have to exit any modes just set it to default browser

This is actually three separate questions:
1) You can install Google Chrome.
2) You can access Gmail. You can do this with ANY browser.
3) The computer is NOT in S mode, so there is no need to EXIT S mode.
