Yes, you could buy the software; but it is expensive, and has a limited life. Consider the gain/loss of $10/month for a device that will be effective for three years- vs $300-$500 for a software license (you still do not own it) that may not be upgradable. And, if the device gets damage/broken/lost, you may not be able to transfer the license to your new device.

If you don't need the newest version (2024), which can be used on more than one computer at a time, and IS expensive, you can buy the prior version (2021), which I have seen for under $50. This one will only be for one computer at a time. Alternatives: (1) You have LIMITED, free use of Word, Excel and PowerPoint via the browser, one component at a time; (2) You can download and use the free suite, Kingsoft.
