Laptop makers, quite some years ago, opted for thinner devices, which precludes inclusion of an optical drive. Besides, more people are using streaming services or download of video content. It's also less drain on the battery not having to power the motor in a DVD drive. If you want a DVD drive for this laptop, you'll need to buy it separately as a USB connected peripheral. Best Buy used to, and maybe still does, carry such external DVD/CD (also blu-ray/DVD/CD) drives.
