You can either hook it up to an Ethernet cable or use the WiFi to connect to the internet. Yes, the Microsoft 365 expires in a year and if you wish to have a permanent license you can purchase the Microsoft Office Home and Student 2019 edition.

It will connect wirelessly, No extra equipment required. I don't have an answer for your second question, but I would assume it is an annual subscription.
