• Hello, It will work while the receiver is off as it is only passing through the signal in standby mode. When receiver is powered on HDMI control is activated and is trying to communicate with all devices. One option is to connect all sources to the TV>HDMI eARC from TV to the AVR-S960H. The connect a optical cable from TV to the soundbar.
