The 960 should pass thru 4K input. If the input source is less than 4K then it can be upscaled to up to 8K. There is no difference between Toslink and optical; they are describing the same thing and are interchangeable, i.e., your current optical cable should work.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.A regular Optical cable will work just fine. Toslink is just another term used for Optical cable. The AVR-S960H offers upscaling for 4k and 8k. You have the option to pass through signals to a TV, allowing the TV to do the processing. Or have the receiver perform the processing "upscaling". Go to settings>Video>i/p scaler>resolution. Other adjustments can be done in Settings>4k/8k signal format.
