“Why doesn’t receiver just pass through (not asking about up-converting) video from older DVD player connected via component video? If you still need component video OUTPUT from receiver to TV to get video on TV, what’s the use? Why not connect DVD to TV?”

Hello, please consider the Denon AVR-X4700H for component video pass through from HDMI. HDMI is a digital connection. Component video is analog and requires to be converted from analog to digital to pass through. This feature is found in the AVR-X4700H and above. For the 2700, a separate component video will need to be connected from receiver to TV.
