It's a spherical diamond stylus that should last for years (at its recommended tracking pressure of 2-3 grams) if you clean it frequently with something like a discwasher stylus cleaning brush to carefully remove built up dust, and if you treat your records with care. Replacement stylii are available for $25-$30 and upgraded stylus replacements for $40 to $100.

Please try again later.Any needle will have to be replaced eventually, but if you clean the needle occaisionally with something like the Discwasher stylus cleaning brush, keep your records clean and handle carefully by the edges and store them away from direct sunlight (upright on edge not stacked flat) to prevent warpage, you can expect years of daily play. I typically upgrade cartridges before the needle wears out.
