- Answer It does come with a cartridge but its not a good one. The one supplied has a Conical Stylus which is the worst for sound reproduction as it rides high in the groves, it also only puts out 2.5 mv of power which is not much. I added a Grado Green cartridge with an Elliptical stylus and it puts out 5 mv of power, the best part of this turntable is the fact that you can replace the cartridge with the best one you can afford as this is what produces the sound and you sound system is only as good as your weakest link

- Answer You can do it both ways. The Denon has a switch under the platter that allows you to hook it to a preamp or directly to the aux or phono connections on your device. Note that it is an AV connection only and does not support other connections.

QuestionDoes this turntable work without a receiver?

- Answer Yes - The unit come with a phone pre-amp that increase the line-out current to be comparable with POWERED speakers such as the Behringer MS20 or MS40 (recommend and own 3 sets) or units by other manufactures. These speakers have their own amplifier built-in and require AC-Power and are called "monitor speakers". Just be sure the turntable pre-amp is ON. On the Denon DL-300F the pre-amp is called the "Equalizer" and the switch to it can be found under the turntable patter and is accessible by a window in the patter. See #13 in the attached diagram. Please note that all turn-tables are sensitive to vibration and I would not place any speakers near the turntable as vibration from the speakers will find the resonance of the turntable and feed-back up the stylus needle. Enjoy the music.

- Answer You will need a receiver. The amps in the turntables that let you jack directly into the speakers are not very good. Save your money. Buy a decent turntable (this is a decent turntable) a decent receiver (this can be done for less than $200) and good speakers. Splurge on a mid range speaker to really get some nice dynamic sound. A sub woofer is nice to have but decent speakers will usually give you enough bass in most instances.

- Answer I was originally using this with Edifier powered speakers and it worked fine. It does have a built in preamp which is what I’m using. I haven’t had any issues at all

Questiondoes anyone know the length from the outside of the back foot to the outside of the front foot. my shelf is 14 inches.

- Answer foot to foot is about 12.5 inches, but if the shelf is closed you need more room that that. There is a hinge on the back of the cover and that puts it from front of foot to back of hinge around 13.5 inches, you also need height so you can open it though. and then the front would stick out off the shelf as well. so altogether you need 15 inch height and 15 inch depth.

QuestionSilly question, just purchased this but it doesn’t has seem to have aux to plug into my speakers... it comes with two cables, 1x red, 1xwhite. These sit loosely into my aux in. No sound is coming out. How do I get it to plug into my speaker? Thanks

- Answer Yes it does. It will connect via red/white rca plugs. I upgraded to the Ortofon Blue and it’s simply fantastic. It made a huge difference. Good luck.

- Answer Yes. It has an internal phono preamp so the RCA jacks can connect directly to your receiver line in. You should be able to use either the Cbl/Sat or DVD line in. Not sure if you can rename the input to Phono but that shouldn’t be a big deal.
