• You will need a receiver. The amps in the turntables that let you jack directly into the speakers are not very good. Save your money. Buy a decent turntable (this is a decent turntable) a decent receiver (this can be done for less than $200) and good speakers. Splurge on a mid range speaker to really get some nice dynamic sound. A sub woofer is nice to have but decent speakers will usually give you enough bass in most instances.

• This can plug directly into any powered speakers. If you have non powered speakers (passive speakers) a receiver would be required.
