  • Key Specs
    • Drive Type: Belt drive
    • Operation Type: Automatic (Automatic turntables move the tonearm into position to begin playing a record and remove it when the record is finished, typically with a single push of a button. Semi-automatic turntables require user interaction to place the tonearm inititally, but will automatically remove it after playback. Manual turntables require the user to place and remove the tonearm as needed.)
    • Integrated Preamp: true (An audio component that amplifies the turntable's audio signal to a level compatible for connection to a sound system.)
    • Cartridge Type Included: Not included (Phono cartridges translate the grooves in a record into electrical signals to produce sound. There are two main types: moving magnet (MM) and moving coil (MC). Generally, MM cartridges have a robust design and high output levels. MC cartridges have an inverse design of MM that is lightweight and more precise, but usually require a preamp to boost their lower output signals.)
    • Audio Only Outputs: 1 x 3.5mm audio
    • Network Connector(s): No network connectors
    • Wireless Connectivity: Bluetooth (The manner in which a device sends data to another device over a short distance without the use of wires or cables.)

Q: Do you need a receiver for the music to play or can you just plug the record player into the amplifier and play the music?

A: If you already own passive type speakers, you will need to install a stereo receiver or amplifier between the turntable and the speakers. Receivers and Amplifier have a POWER amplifier inside to amplify connected sources, such as a turntable, up to a level that can adequately drive the speakers. Another option would be to use POWERED (aka active) type speakers. Powered speakers have their own power amplifier built into them so there is no need for a separate stereo receiver or amplifier. Due to the inclusion of a phono preamplifier in the turntable, the turntable may be connected to devices that either do or do not have a dedicated PHONO input for a turntable. A phono preamplifier raises the phono level signal from a turntable (which is very weak) to a stronger line level signal (such as that which you get from a CD Player) so it can drive the preamplifier section of a receiver, amplifier or powered speaker, then the preamplifier drives the power amplifier. Its all about gain staging so that, in the end, you have a good signal to noise ratio. A phono preamplifier also applies the RIAA equalization curve which is required for the playback of records.

Q: do you need a preamp in order to increase the voltage to feed my onkyo av receiver?

A: No. This turntable has both phono and line output.

Q: Are there built in speakers or do you have to purchase speakers separately?

A: No speakers, just an RCA pre-out so you can connect to an audio system or soundbar

Q: Can you connect this turn table to a apple computer to down load content

A: Hello Ty: You can't connect this turntable to a computer but Audio Technica does have a model that is both bluetooth ready and capable of linking to any computer with a usb connection.

Q: Is this turntable compatible with wireless speakers?

A: No...This model must use wired speakers. Audio Technica sells another model that does offer bluetooth connectivity.

Q: Is the stylus pressure adjustable and does it have an anti-skate adjustment.

A: There is no stylus pressure or anti-skate adjustment function on this model. Those functions are all automatically controlled by this model. If you want those functions, check Audio Technica's other turntable models.

Q: Do you need speakers for this?

A: yes. I have a soundbar and subwoofer.
