• Hi PJF! The only assembly required is inserting the cleaning wand into the top of the vacuum and securing the hose. No tools are required. The cord length is 25 feet. Hope this helps!-Karissa, Dirt Devil Customer Care.

• The handle needs to be attatched but it's tricky and annoying but the cord is pretty long
