Yes. It will rise to designated height and fly above the landing area then descend to home

Yes it returns home - just hit the return home button and it will return and land unassisted. I have heard the warnings when flown too close, but I haven't tried intentionally running it at something.

Yes it should. Also, you can set a default height for it to climb to upon return to avoid any obstacles.
