• The difference is what is measured. Peak amperage is the maximum current the unit can push out for a very short period of time. Cranking amps measures the current the unit can sustain for 30 seconds, at 32 degrees, F. FYI, COLD cranking amps is essentially the same as Cranking amps, except it is measured at 0 degrees, F.

• Peak amps refers to how much current flows through the battery vs cranking amps which is how much current is used to start the car.
