“Our outlet and cable will be right behind where I want to mount the my 40" TV. Does the mount give you enough "wiggle room" to allow for the plug and cable connection? The manual says I need at least 4 inches for proper heat ventilation too. Thanks!”

Ventilation is not an issue. Trying to plug a wire is a real p... Buy the full motion wall mount or "articulated" and pay attention to the weight.
