Hello Donna, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Airwrap™ Complete Styler does work best on damp hair. If you start with wet hair, you can use the pre-styling dryer, to take your hair from wet to damp. If you begin with dry hair, you can use a spray bottle to dampen sections of your hair, as you style it. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support

yes, you can. but to creat hairstyles that last the longest time possible they recommend to use it when your hair is damp
