Hello JG, this is Kelly with Dyson. The Dyson Ball Multi Floor 2 upright vacuum cleaner is perfectly ideal in homes with hard wood, tile and carpeting/area rugs. The self-adjusting cleaner head raises and lowers to seal in suction across all flooring types. You can also shut off the brush bar for use on your hardwood as well. I hope this helps! Please try again later.I use this vacuum on my hardwood floor, ceramic floor and obviously carpet, it has a button to turn the spin brush off when using it on non carpet surfaces. However I have learned that the suction is too powerful to vacuum my small bathroom rugs. I could probably do it if someone were to hold the rug otherwise it will suck up most of the rug.
