The self-adjusting cleaner head raises and lowers to seal in suction across all flooring types. You can also shut off the brush bar for use on your hardwood as well. I hope this helps! It is great for tile and hardwood floors. Great on carpet and thin rugs. Difficult to use on high plush rugs

I use this vacuum on my hardwood floor, ceramic floor and obviously carpet, it has a button to turn the spin brush off when using it on non carpet surfaces. However I have learned that the suction is too powerful to vacuum my small bathroom rugs. I could probably do it if someone were to hold the rug otherwise it will suck up most of the rug.

It can be used on rugs and hardwood floors. Don't forget to turn off the brush or it will scratch your hardwoods.
