Hi Mary, this is Kelly with Dyson. the Dyson Omni-glide™ features dual fluffy soft rollers in the cleaner head which are not designed to clean well on carpeting. There is no brush bar to help gather dirt and debris. You may also encounter an issue with getting the head to move properly on carpets or rugs since it's designed for use on hard/bare flooring.
