• 1.) Pull out and up on the red tab-connector that is located on the bottom of the handle of the lithium ion battery --- this will release the battery from the handle. 2.) Then pull the battery out of the socket. 3.) Now you can plug the battery into the charger -- and no the battery does Not need to be attached to the vacuum when charging. May take a little practice before you can feel the "groove" of how the battery can be "dis-attached" and "re-attached" with the handle.
