“it says it cools air. is this not appropriate for the winter months in the northern climate like chicago? will it throw too much cool air around for comfort?”

Hello Mike, this is Kelly with Dyson. Using the TP01 Pure Cool Tower in the winter would be like using any other type of fan; it will be providing a cooling affect and you might find that tool cool in winter months. Best wishes, Kelly Dyson Customer Support
