However, it is worth noting that the performance of a hair dryer is not all about the watts that it pulls; drying hair requires air flow and heat, and the power of the V9 motor and Air Multiplier™ technology provides a strong flow to help evaporation and air get into hair. While heat is also important in drying your hair, too much of it can be damaging – hence the need for thermal control.

A:AnswerHi Fae, this Is Krystal with Dyson. The temperature at the lowest setting is 140°F and 212° at the highest. Previously, close up styling could expose your hair to excessive temperatures. Now, with intelligent heat control, you can dry without the risk of extreme heat. In addition, the attachments are coated with cool wall technology, making it relatively cool to touch and easy to twist. Therefore, the tools should not get hot to the touch.

A:AnswerI don’t think it’s normal. I purchased the Dyson hair dryer at launch. It worked fine for a few months until the battery emitted a loud buzzing. For that level of noise when it is not even on is unacceptable. I contacted them and they immediately replaced it. I guess too many people started complaining and it was affecting their bottom line. So now they tell you it’s normal when in fact it is not. The replacement lasted about 15 months before it started buzzing. It is out of warranty and I’m not sure if I want to get another one. It appears to be a reoccurring issue.

Surely Dyson could produce some kind of circuitry within the machine so that it has a tolerance of between 110 and 240 volts
GHD Have done it with their hair straighteners
