“My dryer makes a high pitched sound on the low setting that is not present on med/high. Is this normal? Will it impact long term longevity of this expensive device? I'm wondering if I should return or exchange it.”

It shouldn't make that sound. Maybe something wrong with the power if you still have warranty or the protection I would have it checked or exchange to a new one. Good luck!
