“Hi Kelly, Comparing the Direct Drive Brushbar and Tangle free Brushbar. Which has better pick-up ability, durability and less potential repairs? I maintain my vacuums but my V6 motorhead has been a problem I want to avoid in future purchase.”

I just purchased my Dyson and have not used any of the attachments.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Hi there! Overall pickup power will be the same across V8 machines - they offer two suction modes and up to 40 minutes of run time. The older V8 models have a direct-drive head so the brush bar is powered by its own motor. This gives the brush bar more power. If you have pets in the home, or even people with longer hair, that can get wrapped around the brush bar. If not removed on a regular basis, it can get wrapped around the spindles of the brush bar. V8's that have the new Motorbar™ cleaner head actually have anti-tangle vanes in the head which grab that hair, so it won't tangle around the brush bar, and that hair gets sucked up into the bin where it can later be emptied.
