“I purchased this game on disc for my son as xmas gift so he will get this on December 25 but will the codes for the points work or does the code expire? If I give him the disc on 25th December can he redeem the code for the points? Thanks in advance.”

Yes the code should most likely be activated from the time he enters it rather than the time of purchase :)
